Sewing is so much fun. I adore it. But, as a beginner, it takes me a long time before I can even get to the sewing part. I know I will get the hang of threading the machine, getting the fabric cut just right, and pinning everything down soon! This was my first time using a pattern, so it did go a little faster.
I went shopping and picked up a few spools of thread, pins, a rotary cutter, an Olfa cutting mat, and a tomato pin cushion to hold my new pins. As you can see from photo #1, I felt like I had to put dots on the strawberry and make it look like it has seeds! Photo #2 is a Kokka fabric I am using to make pillow cases out of. Photo #3 is what I used for my Burp Cloth and photo #4 is all my new tools to set me up for sewing success!
Here is my beginner burp cloth project:
I used a polka dot minky fabric and Camellia by Darlene Zimmerman from her Naptime fabric collection for Robert Kaufman Fabrics. It is so soft and I adore the tiny bunnies and cotton tails all over. After completing the burp cloth pattern for the first time, I see that I need to sew it again. The curved part is a bit bunched up and I think I just need to iron it down before sewing it to keep it crisp.
Do you have any tips for me so I can have the edges look nice and not bunched up?
