Dangerous levels of lead in handbags!

Attn: Vegans!! The plastic/faux leather handbags sold in lots of major retailers may contain lead! I never thought that the handbag and wallet I use have the possibility to harm me. Until the Center for Environmental Health came out with THIS REPORT. It is a report that states how we should keep these handbags away from small children and ourselves due to the high levels of lead in handbags. Scientists discovered the bags with the highest levels of lead were ones that were yellow and red - leaving them to believe the lead is coming from the coloring in the plastic and vinyl material used.

Then, I also found THIS video about how the Cosmetic Industry has no checks and balances when it comes to the chemicals they use in products. They found lead in lipsticks, too! We all know how little ones will find our lipstick and start putting it all over their little faces and bodies. To think my lipstick is just a tube of colored lead and toxins is scary! It's more than scary, it's terrifying! I thought the FDA controlled chemicals in cosmetics, but they don't!

This is very alarming, but we need to be aware of what toxins we are bringing home with us. We know what is harmful and what causes cancer, but without anyone regulating the marketplace, we have no way of knowing if what we purchase and bring home is safe or if it has lead and other toxins.

After reading these, I realize this has been an issue since 2009 and in 2010, Major retailers agreed to limit lead in handbags. But this issue it is BACK AGAIN with handbags from Tory Burch, House of Harlow, Guess, Nine West and even Charlotte Russe!
